Alaba to undergo surgery today; Real Madrid have defensive crisis for Alaves trip

Right now, David Alaba is scheduled to have surgery in Austria to repair the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) that is located on his left knee. As a result of the fact that Real Madrid will be traveling to Alaves on Thursday, the club is now dealing with an injury scenario involving their defensive players. When it comes to being unavailable for selection, Alaba has joined the ranks of long-term absentees from the ACL. On the other hand, Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois are also included in this category. The injury may prevent the Austrian from participating in any activities until the next season. As a result, he will not be able to compete in the European Championship this summer.

This afternoon in Innsbruck, Austria, the procedure that the versatile defender is slated to undergo is planned to take place. However, neither Ferland Mendy nor Dani Carvajal will be eligible to participate in the match against Alaves because they are both full-backs. Due to an injury that he acquired during the victory over Villarreal, it is anticipated that Mendy will be out of action for ten continuous days.

Because of this, he will not be able to participate in the league matches against Alaves and Mallorca; however, he should be able to return in time for the Copa del Rey match against Arandina on January 6. In the upcoming match between Real Madrid and Mallorca, which will take place at Real Madrid’s home stadium on January 3, it is believed that Carvajal will make his return. Meanwhile, Fede Valverde and Arda Guler are still working on their recovery from injuries.
